Rohan Alahakone has been in the actuarial and insurance field since 1995.  His career includes experience with both consulting firms and insurance companies both domestic and international.  Some examples of his work include:

  • Extensive use of Prophet® actuarial software:
    • Four years as lead model development actuary for a life and annuity insurer.
    • Built and maintained life and annuity models for forecasting, GAAP and statutory financials.
    • Priced whole life, deferred annuity, and long-term care products.
    • Built company models for mergers/acquisitions and EV reporting.
  • Performed Model Steward duties for a life and annuity insurer:
    • Developed and implemented coding standards.
    • Developed templates and standards for model documentation.
    • Developed static and dynamic model validation tools and dashboards.
    • Created and implemented controls and governance processes over production models.
    • Facilitated management review and approval with respect to model changes.
    • Managed software conversions, code cleanup, and documentation of actuarial models.
    • Implemented and tested actuarial software/code upgrades and conversions.
  • Audit experience with respect to:
    • Embedded Value calculations.
    • Detail testing individual policy reserves for universal and whole life contacts.
    • Dividend calculations on whole life contracts.
  • Priced and profit-tested International life products.
  • Performed reinsurance retention analyses and profit share calculations.
  • Developed broker and agency remuneration plans.
  • Developed VPMS (Visual Product Modeling System) modules to support whole life and deferred annuity contract illustrations for CyberLife admin systems.
