Principal

Peter Scourtis has seventeen years of property and casualty actuarial experience.  He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1992 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Risk Management and Insurance with a concentration in actuarial science.  Peter is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. Prior to joining Merlinos & Associates, he was the head of the actuarial department at Fortune Insurance Company for five years.

Experience:

  • Preparing rate filings for clients in multiple lines (including automobile and homeowners, and working with insurance departments for approval of filings)
  • Preparing loss reserve opinions and actuarial reports for clients in personal and commercial lines
  • Developing comprehensive monthly monitoring of all insurance programs for client analyzing production and loss activity
  • Extensive use of Access database to develop useful information including loss reserve reports, market rate comparisons, and product management
  • Producing in-house IBNR loss projections and monitoring loss reserves on monthly basis and assist claims department in review of trends, statistics, and productivity
  • Preparing monthly management reports to monitor company performance and productivity for all lines, specifically PP Auto
  • Catastrophe management of property exposure level through monthly analysis of property exposures and analysis of reinsurance/FHCF needs
  • Developing methods for analyzing catastrophe exposure in prone areas using industry data and computer models
  • Profitability reviews of existing business and proposed business
  • Development of computer pricing models for primary and excess insurance using company and industry information
