David Shepherd has 26 years of experience in the insurance industry. He graduated cum laude and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics/Business and Mathematics from Macalester College, is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He has also spoken on loss and loss expense reserving to various industry groups. Before joining Merlinos & Associates, Dave held the position of Executive Vice President, Chief Underwriting Officer, and Chief Actuary for a reinsurance Managing General Underwriter specializing in workers compensation, accident, and health coverages. In the beginning of his career, he spent eight years working for a direct reinsurance company as a casualty facultative underwriter and then in the actuarial department.
