Robert Daniel has 17 years of property and casualty actuarial consulting experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics (graduating summa cum laude) from the University of Memphis, is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He worked in several actuarial consulting practices before joining Merlinos & Associates in 1999.
EXPERIENCE:
- Appointed Actuary providing Statements of Actuarial Opinion and comprehensive supporting actuarial analyses for insurers (with a focus on Florida and other Southeastern states).
- Reserving for a variety of risk retaining entities, including traditional insurers, self-insured entities/groups, municipalities, public-managed facilities, state-supervised insolvent estates, etc.
- Serving as Examination Actuary and otherwise assisting with financial and target examinations of insurance companies (Property/Casualty, Title and Health).
- Developing approaches for reserving for non-traditional exposures.
- Performing rate filing reviews, addressing a wide range of property/casualty lines of business, on behalf of state insurance regulatory entities.
- Deriving rate indications and by-account rate changes and rating plan revisions for client insurance companies / alternative market facilities.
- Dividend feasibility analysis for self-insured groups.
- Schedule P compilation.
- Assisting with various aspects of litigation and expert testimony, including work establishing estimated liability in settlement.
- Major lines of business include private passenger and commercial auto liability, homeowners / special property, workers compensation, medical malpractice, commercial multi-peril, extended reporting endorsements (DDR free-tail policy reserves), and reinsurance
