Michael Solomon graduated summa cum laude, with First-Class Honors, and holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts (C.A.N.T.A.B.) degrees in Land Economy from The University of Cambridge, England.  Michael is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Experience:

  • Assisting on Financial Examinations of Companies including Amica, Zurich America, Chubb and St. Paul/ Travelers.
  • Assisting on Examinations of Rate Filings on behalf of many State Insurance Departments. Relevant issues have included catastrophe modeling, generalized linear modeling (GLM) and reinsurance allocation.
  • Assisting on Expert Witness Testimonies.
  • Assisting on rating plans for companies including the South Carolina Joint Underwriting Association and Patients Compensation Fund, and various Florida insurers.
  • Assisting State Insurance Departments with supervision of financially troubled insurance companies.
  • Assisting on the setting of rates and reserves for captives including Laurier.
  • Assisting on opining on the reasonableness of reserves of insurance companies including the South Carolina Joint Underwriting Association, and self-insured companies such as MARTA.
