Arizona Homeowners Insurance Compliance Alert

Starting June 30, 2023, insurance carriers who write homeowners policies in Arizona may not use breed of dog, actual or perceived breed, or mixture of breeds, as the sole factor considered in underwriting or actuarial processes used to determine risk, liability, actual, or potential losses relating to claims. Further, all questionnaires, surveys, etc., must be revised so breed is not the sole factor collected. Breed may not be the only factor considered when underwriting a risk due to possession or presence of a dog on the premises. (Arizona Revised Statutes Title 20. Insurance § 20-1510)
